Credentialing depends on a variety of factors and is one of the most complicated areas of healthcare.
Credentialing is one of the most challenging and resource intensive processes involved in starting your practice. The time frames on successful credentialing depends on the individual payers and can range from as early as 30 to 60 days for Medicare to 120 days or more for commercial insurance. This doesn't include potential denials and other challenges that arise in this process. Prior to becoming "in-network", you can still run your practice on "out-of-network" patients (PPO policies) and cash patients.
